concept of a hotel
concept year: 2022
Set within a winery complex, a new hotel brings four apartments across four levels into a compact 170 sq m footprint. Part of a wider revitalisation of the existing buildings, the project establishes a shared architectural language, carrying the character of the buildings forward through material, proportion and a warm palette.
Diagonal brickwork lends the façades a tactile rhythm, picking up the earthy tones of neighbouring stone walls and tiled roofs. Vertical recesses and deeply inset openings articulate the compact volume, allowing light and shadow to shift across its surfaces. A pool, pathways and planted gardens draw the buildings into the vineyard landscape, creating places to gather and unwind.
Inside, the layout balances privacy with a close connection to the outdoors. Windows frame views of the gardens and surrounding landscape, while intimate resting areas give the apartments a quiet, slow atmosphere. The result is a retreat rooted in architectural memory of the place and the seasonal rhythms of its setting.
