concept of a family house
concept year: 2021
Set among trees on a sloping site, this 470-square-metre family home brings together exposed concrete, sculptural copper and expansive glass. Its volumes respond to the contours of the land, while the copper façades introduce warmth and texture. Their undulating surfaces catch the changing light, becoming a backdrop for the shadows of surrounding branches.
At the heart of the home, a double-height living and dining area creates a generous setting for family life and entertaining. Floor-to-ceiling glazing frames the greenery and connects the interior to a terrace alongside the outdoor reflecting pool. A staircase leads to the private rooms above, where bedrooms and shared children spaces enjoy more secluded views of the garden.
An indoor swimming pool adds a year-round retreat, maintaining a close visual connection to the outdoors. Throughout the house, the interplay of light, water and landscape softens the bold geometry, balancing architectural drama with the intimacy of home.
